PBX is looking for Design Engineer to work with the Industrial team and other engineers in delivering projects in BC & Alberta.

About the Role

Working closely with other engineers, the Design Engineer will be an active member of the Industrial design team, with responsibility for project tasks in the following areas:
  • Preparation of designs for all types of industrial systems for a variety of industrial facility types including marine ports and terminals, transit facilities, and infrastructure such as bridges and tunnels, etc.
  • Preparation of calculations and simulations including voltage drop, protection & coordination, arc flash, grounding, etc.
  • Preparation of design documentation, including drawings, cost estimates, reports, and construction specifications
  • Performing construction services and site reviews
  • Performing system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Assisting with preparation of project proposals and project fees
  • Project Management experience managing small to medium size projects
  • Responsible for producing design documentation and interfacing with clients with high level support from senior engineering staff
  • Travel to site locations as required


Qualifications

Core Qualifications

While relevant experience is certainly an asset, we are far more interested in finding the right person and are willing to train. The preferred and required skills of a successful candidate are listed below:
  • Registered EIT or P.Eng. with APEGA or EGBC
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology program or equivalent from a recognized technical institute
  • Strong communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
  • At least 4 – 5 years experience in electrical power design and engineering consulting environment
  • Ability to effectively deal with a high level of responsibility
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated effective project management experience
  • Experience managing client relationships


Desirable Qualifications

The following qualifications are desirable, but not essential (if you don’t have them and you’re the right person for the role, we’ll support your training and development in these areas):
  • Experience with ETAP design software
  • Experience in a consulting environment
  • Genuine desire to make an impactful contribution to a place where you yourself can build a long-term career

Compensation

The range of compensation for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 base salary per annum. This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation. The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above.
