Description
We are looking for a Senior Security Designer that can assist with leading the expansion of our Integrated Security Business Unit into Ontario and support our growing project portfolio in the region.
Core responsibilities will be related to project management, design lead, and project delivery for security related projects.

About the Role
Working closely with other engineers, the Senior Designer will be a key member of the Integrated Security team, with a focus on developing our Ontario-based presence. Responsibility for project tasks will be in the following areas:
- Act as an external liaison and represent PBX in a manner befitting the engineering profession when interacting with clients, prime consultants, sub-consultants, vendors, contractors, and other parties involved in the delivery of projects
- Manage multiple projects applying effective project management principles to support successful and profitable delivery
- Prepare internal and external project administration documentation
- Coordinate, contribute to, and/or prepare project documentation as required to deliver projects, including (but not limited to):
- Capital plans and cost estimates
- Site security and system assessments
- Security governance documentation
- Reports, requirements, technical memos, specifications
- Calculations and simulations
- Design drawings
- Test plans, manuals, training material
- Attend meetings
- Perform site work at the client’s premises
- Conduct site inspections
- When directed, manage business unit resources and coordinate workload and technical details with resources from other business units
- When directed, contribute to strategic direction of the business unit
- Coordinate, contribute to, and/or prepare content for effective and competitive proposals, including the development of project fee estimates
A successful candidate will help support and maintain the company’s large and diverse project portfolio, where opportunities for efficiencies will need to be identified and implemented in order to manage demands related to time and resources as the company grows and workload increases.

While relevant experience is certainly an asset, we are far more interested in finding the right person and are willing to train. To succeed in this position, you will possess the following attributes:
- Proven experience as a design lead and project manager on medium to large size projects
- Aptitude for technical writing, including reports, memos, and professional email correspondence
- Understanding of computer architecture (servers, storage, workstations, and user interfaces)
- Familiarity with IP networking principles
- Aptitude for understanding how sub-systems can integrate
- Strong computer skills including excellent working knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational ability and attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills and a positive, professional attitude
- Strong willingness to take initiative and a self-starter attitude
- Ability to deal effectively with a high level of responsibility and demanding work schedule
- Ability to work independently and use initiative to ensure tasks are completed effectively and on time
- Ability to work, for limited time periods, in noisy or harsh site project environments

Desirable Qualifications
Beyond the core skills, there are particular qualifications that will set you apart. The successful candidate will likely have most or all of the following qualifications:
- Experience in the design of complex, enterprise security systems
- Working knowledge of leading manufacturers and product lines for video surveillance, card access, building intrusion, and perimeter intrusion detection
- CPP or PSP designations
- Familiarity with virtualized server environments
- Working knowledge of network design principles for fibre, copper and wireless networks
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Working knowledge of applicable provincial, national and international standards for security systems
- Working knowledge of low voltage AC/DC distribution systems.
- Working knowledge of Ontario construction standards and regulations.
- Good understanding of hardware and software system integration and compatibility.
- Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting security devices
- Genuine desire to make an impactful contribution to a place where you yourself can build a long-term career

Compensation
The range of compensation for this position is $130,000 to $180,000. This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation. The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above.
