PBX is looking for an experienced Intermediate Electrical Design Technologist to join our dynamic Transportation team in Ontario.

About the Role
Working closely with other senior engineers, the Intermediate Electrical Design Technologist will be a member of the Transportation team.
In this role, the Intermediate Electrical Design Technologist will assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of street lighting, traffic signal systems and related infrastructure. Other responsibilities shall include:
- Develop and review traffic signal and street lighting drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and guidelines
- Prepare technical reports, maintain detailed records, and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
- Assist in conducting traffic studies and analyzing data to develop optimized traffic signal timings for improved traffic flow
- Client liaison and project management
- Prepare cost estimates
- Preparation of calculations and simulations
- Prepare specifications, reports, technical memos, and other project documentation
- Attend meetings
- Performing construction services, site inspections, and field reviews
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship of junior staff
- Assist with business development activities, as and when appropriate
- Preparation of electrical designs for traffic signals and lighting
- Preparation of electrical and systems design for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure including CCTV, Advanced Traveler Information Systems, Traffic Safety Systems, Active Traffic Management Systems
- Performing system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Qualifications
Core Qualifications
The preferred and required skills of a successful candidate are listed below:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in street lighting, traffic signals or related infrastructure
- Certification as a Traffic Signal Technician, Roadway Lighting Technician or equivalent (e.g., IMSA Level I) is considered an asset
- Familiar with traffic signal controllers and hardware, including 170, NEMA and ATC standards
- Awareness of Ontario Traffic Manuals, MUTCD, TAC guidelines, ANSI/IES RP-8 and other engineering standards
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn and a positive, professional attitude and demeanor
- Able to effectively deal with a high level of responsibility and demanding work schedule
- Knowledge of the Canadian and Ontario Electrical Code
- Strong computer skills including good working knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, where demands and deadlines shift frequently
- Must be located in Windsor, ON or Southwestern Ontario
Desirable Qualifications
Beyond the core skills, there are particular qualifications that will set you apart. The successful candidate will likely have most or all of the following qualifications:
- Experience working on local municipalities or Ministry of Transportation Ontario
- Knowledge of the following areas are not mandatory, but are considered an asset to the position:
- Experience with traffic engineering and signal timing
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with AGI
- Synchro Model development
- Traffic signal bench testing
- Traffic signal commissioning and troubleshooting

- Eligible for registration as a CET with OACETT or registration as an EIT or P. Eng. with PEO
Compensation
The range of compensation for this position is $80,000 to $95,000. This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation. The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above.
